The Ocean Beach Planning Board will hold its 2016 General Election on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Seven of the Board’s 14 seats will be up for election, one from each of the seven districts in the OB Community Plan Area (map).

At its meeting on November 4, 2015, the Ocean Beach Planning Board adopted the following letter to City Councilmember Lorie Zapf in response to her proposed regulations on vacation rentals in San Diego:
This letter takes into account the input received by the OB Planning Board and OB Town Council in our joint meeting on September 21, by community members in the Community Planners Committee meeting on September 22, as well as over four months of discussion and deliberation at our regular Board and committee meetings.
Ocean Beach is one of the most affected neighborhoods by this proposed change in legislation.
The community is committed to finding an equitable solution that balances the desire for residents to maintain the integrity of their neighborhoods with long term residents, as well as for owners to rent out their homes for a portion of the year. Our goal is to strike compromise with both groups to develop the best outcome possible.

The Community Plan Sub-Committee of the Ocean Beach Planning Board will convene on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. The purpose is to plan for the upcoming City Council hearing for final approval of the OB Community Plan (currently scheduled for Monday, November 9). After a nearly 15-year process, the Ocean Beach Community Plan has reached the final stage of approval! This final step is adoption by the San Diego City Council of the modifications requested by the California Coastal Commission in August. (For details on the revisions, see the Community Plan page.)
The City Council is scheduled to consider the OB Community Plan at its session on Monday, November 9, 2015, beginning at 2pm.
The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers located on the 12th Floor of the City Administration Building, 202 C Street, San Diego, CA 92101 (map/directions).
We urge anyone and everyone who supports Ocean Beach, coastal communities, and San Diego’s Community Planning process to attend the City Council hearing in support of the OB Community Plan.
Carpooling is encouraged and the OB Planning Board and OB Town Council will be coordinating rides to and from the event. If you are interested in sharing transportation, please email communityplan@oceanbeachplanning.org.
