Ocean Beach Adds First Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

archtoberfest

Today, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego City Councilmember Lorie Zapf, Business Development Manager Jacques Chirazi, Ocean Beach Planning Board Chair John Ambert and Vice Chair Blake Herrschaft cut the ribbon on the first Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Ocean Beach Lifeguard parking lot.

These two stations are the first public EV charging stations in Ocean Beach, and are the closest public EV stations to the beach in all of Southern California. This marks a huge step for the OB community as these stations were identified as opportunities in the Ocean Beach Community Plan, approved in fall 2015.

The Ocean Beach Planning Board is thrilled to see the installation of these stations, and is looking forward to more projects that improve the sustainability and decarbonization of our community.
